This health care project involved a renovation in an existing hospital for a new, expanded Neonatal Intensive Care Unit bringing three separate buildings together. The main Floor Plan concept of the new NICU was to develop a plan based upon a womb-like elliptical shape. The nurse's station and medical records area are located at the core of the plan. Elliptical rings radiating from the core of the plan define circulation and access to the "patient" areas.
