Somdal Associates has prepared Conceptual Plans for a new Bossier YMCA. The proposed building as currently designed would be over 60,000 square feet under roof and would include an indoor pool facility with a recreational pool with slides as well as competitive swimming pool, a large multi configuration gymnasium, a wellness center with equipment and walking track, aerobics / palates room, administrative offices, a kid zone with interactive computer games, a child watch area, locker rooms, and a cyber café.
The 300 acre site would provide enough open area to have (3) Youth Soccer Fields and (2) High School Soccer Fields. The area would also remain open and allow for practice fields and pick up games. A large portion of the site is wetlands. These areas would be incorporated into an extensive walking path and potentially provide a learning opportunity for school age children. The extensive path system would tie the new YMCA together with the existing Bossier City Spray Park, The Ball Fields, The Wetland Nature Path, and the existing Bossier Tennis Facility.
Parking is dispersed on either side of the facility and would be available for weekend soccer and flag football tournaments. There is also a central lawn adjacent to the Y and the ball fields which would be arranged as a small play area and lawn for siblings to play in while brother or sister is playing a game or practicing. A pavilion for concessions is provided as well as a large drop off / pick up area adjacent to the ball fields.
